Merry Christmas!
We are finishing 2019 strong because of YOU, our sponsors, who pray and give so generously to our children in Mozambique. As we come to the close of another great year, we would like to take a moment to celebrate with you some of the tremendous work God has done in 2018.
- Our sponsorship kids are learning what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Every Wednesday they serve their community by visiting homes, praying with families and giving them a bar of soap and sugar or flour. We are seeing an increase in church attendance because of their visits.
- Every child has the opportunity to learn about Jesus, receive a hot meal Monday through Friday and receives help with school supplies, uniforms and tutoring.
- We rolled out our new software management system, which will offer you frequent updates about what’s happening in Xai-Xai and how you can be praying for what is needed.
- Through your ongoing support, every child in the Celebration Sponsorship Program participated in our Christmas Party, received a personal care kit and toy, as well as enjoyed a healthy meal. Fun was had by all…including our loving staff who give their all to care for these children.
Here are a couple big wins for Escola de Campeões (School of Champions):
- Grade 3 was added to the School of Champions and all grade levels had high test scores with a number of students in each class earning perfect scores in Math and Portuguese. It’s exciting to see how well our students are flourishing.
- Brent, Cherry Shaw along with their two boys, Andrew and Jack said YES to God’s call for them to go to Mozambique to oversee the School of Champions and the Child Sponsorship Program.
- We began construction on our third school building expected to be completed late February 2019. The new facility will provide six additional classrooms, a library and administration offices.
Today, we have 462 children in our program and another 30 will be added in January. The 30 children joining the program will be our new group of 4-year-olds who will also attend the Escola de Campeões (School of Champions). Our grade 3 students will promote to grade 4 and a teacher will join the staff to begin teaching English to all of our students. Isn’t God good?
On behalf of Pastors Joe and Lori Champion, we thank you and pray for God to richly bless you for playing an important part in expanding His kingdom. Enclosed you will find a special letter that your child has written just for you. We pray this will be a blessing to you and your family.
We wish God’s best for you as we move into another year excited about what God will do for our kids in Xai-Xai and for you. Happy New Year!
